I have always been an avid fan of photography, namely sport, food and wildlife. I’m not Paul Nicklen, but hopefully one day.
Doing the product shots for Drink Soma, their social media and website, (my girlfriend and I took them on as a client during March 2020) is a lot of fun. I think food photography is so imaginary and creative, especially when dealing with milk – it must be one of the best food items to photograph. A lot of planning and passion goes into these, click the heading to see some of the work.
Photography for Faber – an eco-friendly restaurant on the Avondale Wine farm in Paarl. They have been nominated on Eat Out Awards and make the most incredible meals, with most of their ingredients sourced from the farm. They launched their Deli during May 2020, and we took all the photos for their online catalog, menu items, and social media. Click the title to see more.
I love being in and around nature, and on a trip to Namibia, I spent time at Erindi Private Game Reserve where we spent time in the campsite as well as the lodge (Old Traders Lodge). The game we saw was incredible, and some of the sightings, such as a wild dog being eaten by a crocodile, we didn’t always manage to capture but it’ll last a lifetime. We also spent time in Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, Omaruru, Swakopmund, and Walvis Bay (click title for more.)
I am involved in the Roxy Davis Foundation, which is a foundation that focuses on adaptive surfing. Once a month, they host clinics in Muizenberg where there are about 25 – 40 surfers, who come from various backgrounds with a range of disabilities. I take photos and I help with their social media – an example is below, to see more just open their Instagram account.
I have a passion for wildlife, and the Kruger National Park is one of the most biodiverse areas in South Africa. This lion was watching over a few cubs when the lionesses were out hunting, he perched himself on an anthill to see if the lionesses were coming back anytime soon. Click here to view some photos I’ve taken at the Kruger National Park.
Sanbona is a private game reserve in South Africa, about 2 hours from Cape Town. They have cheetahs, white lions, buffalo, rhino, leopard, elephants, hippos, and a huge diversity of fauna. Click to view some more photos from Sanbona.
